Joanna Eleftheriou earned a PhD in English from the University of Missouri following studies at Old Dominion University, Cornell University and the Center for Ottoman, Byzantine, & Modern Greek Studies in Birmingham, UK. An Associate Professor of English at Christopher Newport University, her poems, essays, and translations appear in journals including Arts and Letters, Poetix, and The Common. She is the author of the essay collection This Way Back, and helps edit Assay: A Journal of Nonfiction Studies.
